Hi! Lyndsay here!
I'm so glad that Mother Nature has finally decided to cooperate, and it is warm enough to plant the garden. My backyard garden is my happy place. My main goal has always been to cram as much food production as i can into whatever space i have. I typically start everything from seed indoors well before our last frost here in Ottawa. I always start more than enough for our needs, so that i can offer seedlings to anyone who would like to grow a garden themselves!
What do i like to grow in my garden?
I always have at least 12 different varieties of tomatoes to choose from (mostly heirloom).
Potatoes are a must (even-though i never have a stellar harvest). Red peppers,Kale,Cucumbers,Swiss chard,Beans (pole and bush),Peas (sugar snap),Lettuce,Garlic (started in the fall),Beets, Rhubarb, Broccoli, Onions, and Carrots.
There is something so exciting in seeing the potential that a little vegetable seed has to offer. It's even better when you can put a meal on the table that has come from the garden. Knowing where my food comes from, and how it is grown is very important to me.
In a month, my garden will start to offer up its wonderful bounty as reward for my hard work. I can't wait.
